The slit lamp is an instrument consisting of a high-intensity light source that shines a thin layer of light into the eye. It is used in conjunction with a biomicroscope to examine of the anterial and posterial segments, as well as the frontal structures of the eye, therefore enabling diagnosis of various eye conditions.
