A hemoconcentrator is a fluid removal device used during cardio bypass surgery. The device is inserted into the extracorpeal circuit where it acts to control hemodilution, maintain hematocrit levels, and reduce the need for additional blood products during and after surgery. Recognized as a great asset in fluid management, hemoconcentrators lower instances of edema, organ dysfunction and protein concentration.
